LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER

ISG - Dammam Library Media Center functions as the information center of the school, providing electronic and physical access to information. The mission of the Media Center is to provide a welcoming space for study, research, reflection and exchange of ideas, meet the informational and pleasure reading needs of students and staff, and to support the faculty with professional development resources and additional materials for teaching.

The primary goal of the Library Media Center Staff is to teach students the necessary skills to browse, locate, evaluate, and utilize appropriate information sources to satisfy their own curiosity. Emphasis is given on providing resources and activities that contribute to lifelong reading and learning, instruction and consultation assistance in the use of print and electronic resources for research.

Library Media Center organizes fun-filled reading activities for students from KG to Grade 6. Read aloud is provided for beginners to develop their listening and comprehension skills. They are also trained to develop the ability to respond to what is seen and heard. It is an inviting place for children where they can open books and open their minds for a better tomorrow.

Library services have been automated and have an electronic public catalogue, which allows students and staff to have an easy accession to its resources. Daily news paper is available and nearly 60 different magazines are being subscribed every year for students and teachers.

Media Center conducts an annual Book Fair, which is a week event in the school for the staff and students to have an opportunity to see and buy attractive books at affordable prices. Periodic ordering of Scholastic Book Club resources for students is another opportunity they get through the Media Center to buy the latest titles published in the United States. Reading ability, which is a foundation of learning, is improved by access to up-to-date books.

Book Club

Book Club is formed by High School students to discuss books and literature during their free time without a teacher.  They meet once in a week in the Library. To promote reading, a blog is created and maintained by them.  Newly discussed books' reviews are added periodically. "The Books of the Month" for High School and Middle School students are discussed, decided and added to the blog.
